ICC Inspector and Plans Examiner Certifications
These tests are given by the ICC (International Code Council) to become certified in one one of two ways:
1) Anyone can take the test and those that pass will earn a voluntary certification program for industry professionals. Applications for the test are sent directly to ICC, are administered by the ICC in testing centers through the state (and country) and are largely open book tests proctored by independent staff.
See ICC's website for more information: http://www.iccsafe.org/certification/inspector.html
2) You may choose to take the test by APPLYING THROUGH THE STATE OF FLORIDA to have the ICC certification recognized by the State of Florida. You MUST have at least 5 years construction or inspection experience in the category you are seeking certification for, or demonstrate a combination of secondary education and experience which totals five years. You will also be required to take the Florida Principles & Practices Exam.
Applicants must APPLY TO State of Florida's Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAI) to have their certification recognized. The testing dates and places (since it is the SAME test) are the same as above.
