Buildinf Official: Inspector Training and Certification

Course Overview:

Upon successful completion of this course, Florida General, Building and Residential Contractors may prepare residential plans for permitting according to the provisions of the alternate methodologies of the International Building Code.

During the ICC 600 Wind Design Technician course, Contractors will gain an understanding of the revised wind speed map; positive and negative wind pressures; and requirements for the structural “Main Wind Force Resisting System” and the attached “Components and Cladding,” as defined by the 2009 International Building Code.

This course uses the ICC 600 standard for Residential Construction in High Wind Regions to review the prescriptive requirements and construction details of buildings sited in wind climates of 100 to 150 MPH to provide wind resistant designs for residential buildings of masonry, concrete and wood framed construction.

This standard, ICC 600, supplements the International Residential Code provisions and is intended to provide minimum requirements to improve structural integrity and improve building envelope performance within the limitations in building geometry, materials, and wind climate specified. ICC600 provides a set of specifications consistent with the International Building Code and ASCE 7 Windloads.

Bring your calculator -- Reference materials (ICC 600, International building Code, ASCE7, WFCM) will be available for class reference or you may purchase references from the bookstore.
